BE THE CHANGE . . .Being reflective and being appreciative

November marks the end of our first quarter of school and we always take this time to reflect on the year and our work so far. This year has started like no other with much success and many challenges. Reflection will guide our work and our growth as we move forward.

REFLECTIVE

We thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development. (ibo.org)

As we reflect, we also take some time to be thankful. With our focus on being the change this month we focus on being thankful each day.

Showing thanks spreads joy to others and cultivating gratitude increases our individual well-being. Read more about gratitude here.

We will begin with gratitude to CMSD voters and CIS families for voting to support our schools.

REFLECTING

The process of reflection begins. Ms. Sammon's MYP Visual Art students reflected and responded on their growth and learning as they provide valuable feedback on learning and navigating the virtual environment.

Living the Learner Profile

We appreciate all our learners and action-takers who live the learner profile. These students were recognized their actions and attitude in October.

BE THE CHANGE

From our caring kindergarteners to Grade Eight activists our thinkers are working to make the world better and more peaceful place.

Say Something in K. What can you say to be the change?

MYP thinkers are exploring beliefs and ideas as they work in Individuals and Society and is some Art classes to inquire into the idea that the creative expression of beliefs and values evokes change. Rights, social justice and activism were explored throughout the unit. Check out their projects and plans below. Many of these ideas may turn into community projects.

More action and knowledge in MYP Grade 7 Sciences. They are exploring the concepts relationships, patterns and models and inquiring into the Statement of Inquriy. The properties of matter are determined by the arrangement of atoms. To demonstrate their knowledge and thinking they created these Element Superheroes and villains.

More Be the the Change and be appreciative in November. These second graders have already started.
