Inquirers Everywhere

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

We have been inquiring, thinking and learning. Let' s catch up on some of our questions and considerations.

What does an inquirer do?

Our first months of school were full of inquiry and we spent time celebrating some inquirers, who are always in search of knowing more and eager to research and find out.

Try something new

Our new salad bar has us asking questions about fruits and vegetables and investigating through experience. Food service and nutrition friends stopped by and invited us to try some yellow and orange tomatoes. Did we like them? YES We also investigated a bit.

Is a tomato a fruit or vegetable? It is a fruit :)

Questions and community.

We ask questions and inquire when we play a group game. What made this game work well? What can we each do to make the game fun? Can we make this game better?

We play games and ask questions during morning meeting to learn about each other and build community.

More inquiring about games. Grade 5 designers are thinking about how to make a math game. They investigated games, created math content and made sure their directions were clear.

More math inquiry and fun in Grade 3. We are solving problems and sharing and comparing solutions.

Learning about Basketball with the CSU Women's Basketball Team

Why should we read? It can help us find answers to our questions and be a super power.

We are curious about Cleveland

Our Grade 8 inquirers had the opportunity to hear from the Greater Cleveland Partnership and city planners about the the North Coast Lakefront project. We learned about the history of the land and plans for the future. We had the opportunity learn, ask questions and share our ideas and opinions.

They also brought a friend. We had a surprise visit from Chomps and he was kind enough to visit our PYP students. It made their Monday.

More inquiry in Grade 8.

Third graders are wrapping up their unit on systems and learning about the role of government.

They spent some time at City Hall learning about the Judicial Branch and Executive Branch of government. Thank you Judge Oakar and Mayor Bibb for a great visit.

Reflecting and Inquiring

Community Project is an important learning experience in Grade 8 with a focus on research and service. Grade 8 learners spent time reflecting on who they are as learners and group members. They also considered topics they are interested in exploring.

Grade 2 inquirers exploring and discovering the big idea in their unit as they build understanding.

Inquiring and communicating at Model United Nations Conference

Artists and inquirers in MYP Visual Art made representations of the Learner Profile and the Approaches to Learning and reflected on connections to the CMSD Profile of a Graduate. These are skills and qualities we work on developing every day:)

Book Character Day is coming on October 31st

Get inspired with some pictures from last year:)
