Reflective is one of the attributes of the learner profile. According to the IB, " We thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development."
We have been practicing and developing this attribute throughout October and everyone shared their growth and goals at Student Led Conferences.
Projects that culminate in Demonstrations of Learning provide a powerful way to share learning and reflect on the process and growth.
Mathematicians in Mrs. Taylor's class worked on a statistics project and shared their learning about their classmates through surveys and the use of statistics to understand data. Math can tell a story about who we are.
Ms. Lorek's Language and Literature students used thinking skills and developed the art of persuasion through a Shark Tank project that focused on the importance of bees.
In Grade Five, mathematicians created Math games that showed their creativity and Math skills.
Student Led Conferences
Learners throughout the school shared reflections and plans for growth with their families, These conferences help students develop agency and independence as learners reflect on and describe their own development.
MYP students reflected on bullying at a district conference and made plans to keep our school peaceful and educate others.
Kindergarteners reflect on everything they have learned about apples and celebrated by making applesauce.
