Welcome Back to the new year and the new Weekly Wonder

The first day of school around the city. So many smiling faces ready for the year.

Week one is done. We all came in with an open mind and needed to be risk-takers and communicators. With remote teaching and learning we took a risk and tried new things. The CIS community was helpful in making the transition as easy as could be.

Families and students are risk-takers as they begin learning in new ways and combining home and classroom. Virtual learning is full of little risks as we enter a new territory for learning and we open our homes as classrooms too. Sometimes it is a risk to talk and share or turn our cameras on.

Communication seems new and different in a remote classroom. Our open-mindedness has paid off this week as we are all willing and interested. Changes is schedules for meetings and tech distribution, links that don't work and losing your internet connection all required an open mind and helpful friends to lend a hand or some patience.

Creative classrooms

Teachers spent so much time preparing and classrooms were ready and welcoming, as usual. Although, they look a little different this year, they still have everything we need to keep inquiring and learning. Check out the learner profile and all the ways to take action. We have book rooms and math rooms too. They are all cozy and inviting and some pets have joined a few. Pets have also become a new part of our virtual classrooms- they are eager to learn and add joy to the day.

LearningSpaces

We have Bitmoji classrooms in the virtual world and home classrooms, offices and work stations. Your work space can be large, small or shared and can look many different ways. We are all finding that place that helps us do our best work.

BE THE CHANGE

We are ready to BE THE CHANGE and take action. Check out these two PYP action-takers- working on the Black Lives Matter mural on East 93rd and recycling for a good cause.

Let us know what you are up to. See details below and send pictures. Be sure to include a caption.

MORE BITMOJIS

More Bitmojis from our CIS staff. Your week may have started with a "womp, womp" as we navigated the world of virtual teaching and learning. We hope it ended like Mr. Levy's with the joy of doing something you love, and " May the force ( to persevere with patience) be with you! Have a great week two:)
